The Lost Paintings
Told from the first-person perspective, the inner lives of a dysfunctional southern Illinois family sets the scene for an adventure of finding lost art in a place and time never before fictionalized. Set in 1950, Otis Adair is a WWII veteran who relates his memories and experiences as he searches for valuable paintings which were to be his inheritance. Where is the art, and how will he find them? Otis encounters a whole cast of eccentric characters: a mobster with honor, a crazy sister-in-law, a wise old man with a sixth sense, and a besotted woman who attempts suicide, all people who have tried to carve out a life in a place indifferent to their longings. During his travels, he meets Mavis, who becomes the love of his life. Together they navigate a trail of mystery, danger and forbidden secrets as they unravel the mystery of the missing paintings.
